7/4/10  Uhrichsville, Ohio Erik took his first ever Sunoco series overall win when he went 3, 1 for 1st overall, and a massive 50 points. Racing in dry and dusty conditions, Erik mastered the fast track early, and put in a hard fought effort to come out on top of the podium. In 92 degree weather, Erik chose to sacrifice the super-mini class, and only run the jr.mini class. The move paid off as a fresh and alert performance out paced the field by 14 seconds. The win keeps Erik in 2nd place in the regular season championship, and moves him into second place in the Sunoco series championship.

5/28/10 Erik won his second race of the season, and his first in the Jr. Mini class. Erik went 1,2 for first overall, and also took 2nd in the supermini class.

5/7/10  Erik took his first ever overall win in the supermini class Friday night. Rounding out the evening, Erik took 2nd place in the Jr. Mini class. Erik then set his sights on the Sunoco Series double points race at Big Game in Hubbard, Ohio. In the Supermini race, Erik failed to back up his winning form when he fell in both motos. In the Jr. Mini race, Erik took 3rd in the first moto, and only a downed rider prevented him from taking 3rd in the second moto. Erik fought back from the first lap setback to take 4th place and 4th place overall. The double points have Erik firmly in second place in the division standings.

4/18/10: Erik had a solid weekend of MX with 4 holeshots, and finishing second in 3 out of 4 races. A windy track at Linesville would prove a challenge as Erik went bar to bar with the eventual Jr. Mini and Super Mini winner. Malvern would see Erik continue his current improved streak, as well as produce the speed necessary to place on the podium at this super fast race track. A very technical sandy and loamy Big Game track would see Erik having to ride fast as well as intelligently in order to pick up a fourth place finish. In one of the tightest battles the entire weekend, Erik battled another rider for 3 laps before finally getting a wheel underneath him in the final turn to finish 4th for the day. Erik currently sits in 2nd place in the Jr. Mini division.

3/29/10: The 2010 outdoor MX season got under way this past weekend. Despite being a slopfest, Erik turned in some fine performances. Having finished 2nd in the first Jr. Mini moto, Erik knew that to take first overall he had to win the second moto. Taking the lead on lap two, Erik pulled away from the field only to have his motor seize up with a little over a lap to go. Undaunted, he went into the super mini second moto with great determination, and improved on his first moto finish of fifth by taking home the third spot. What was encouraging despite a huge diappointment in the Jr. Mini class was the overall performances under difficult racing conditions.

9/18/09 Linesville, PA: Erik took 1st in moto 1 of the Jr. Mini race, only to fall in moto 2, and finish 3rd overall. A finish of  3,3 in the supermini class saw him take 3rd overall in the class

9/11/09 Linesville, PA: Erik won his first ever 85cc moto Friday night in the Jr. Mini class. Taking the first moto, Erik worked hard to win the overall, but finished one place short in the second moto for 2nd place overall. On Sunday at TV Land, Erik was running a strong 4th in a stacked field of riders, only to fall halfway around the 3rd lap. Not being able to start his bike quickly, he finished 13th. Erik didn't stay disappointed for too long, in the 2nd moto, he quickly raced into 4th place, and was only 2 bike lengths behind the 3rd place rider at the checkered flag.

9/5/09 Linesville, Pa: Erik took 2nd in the 85cc Jr. Mini class, and 2nd in the Sr. Mini class riding a stock 85.

8/1/09  Hubbard, Ohio: Erik decided to give up on the points race at Holeshot, and try his hand at a Triathalon instead. In the MX part of the Triathalon, Erik took home 1st place, and followed that up with a 1st in the evening flat track portion. Going into Sunday's Harescramble, Erik was looking good at 1,1. However, the harescramble proved to be an achilles heel, with Erik taking 4th place and missing out on the overall 6' trophy by one point.

6/20/09: Linesville, PA. The wet weather and muddy conditions did not prevent Erik from gathering his 2nd 65cc win of the year, and a Father's Day gift for Dad. Taking both holeshots in the 65cc race, Erik rode aggressively, and intelligently to take both motos and top of the podium. In the 85cc race, Erik went 4,3 for 3rd overall. The 2nd 85cc moto was an exciting event, as Erik went bar to bar with the eventual 2nd place finisher.

5/29/09: Friday night saw an emotional return to the top of the podium after almost 2 years. Despite a heavy downpour which made the track extremely slick, Erik managed to go 1, 1 for 1st overall in the 65cc class. In the 85cc class, Erik took 3, 3 for 3rd overall. The win was well deserved, as Erik put together aggressive, and consistent laps in each moto. The real prize was seeing the look on Erik's face after the race. It was still there on Sunday.

5/2/09: Erik returned to Holeshot Raceway, to continue his comeback from injuries. In both classes, he improved on the previous week's opening performance. In the 85cc class, Erik turned in solid performances in both motos to finish 5th overall. In the 65cc class, Erik finished 2nd in both motos including a holeshot in the second moto for 2nd overall. Having done very little riding in the past 10 months, Erik is showing a renewed enthusiasm, and confidence that will continue to grow in the next few weeks.

4/28/09: Erik began the local 2009 campaign by heading to Pymatuning Holeshot. In the 85cc race,  Erik paced the leaders in the 12 rider field, and took home a 4th place finish in the first moto. However, a rider mix-up at registration caused the race to be re-run some 20 minutes later. Hurrying to get back to the line, Erik finished 7th in the re-run. Not to be discouraged, Erik took a solid 5th place finish in the 2nd 85cc moto to take 6th overall.
In the 65cc race, Erik was in 4th place after the holeshot in the first moto, only to fall back and leave the race after 3 laps with ignition problems. After the team's mechanic remedied the issue, Erik was running in 3rd place after 4 laps, in the second moto, but on the final lap he committed the cardinal sin of taking it easy, and was passed for 3rd with a half lap left in the race. In all, it was a good opener for Erik, as he looked comfortable, and confident the entire night.

2008 News

10/29/08: After eighteen weeks of layoff, Erik got the news he wanted today, he was cleared to ride again. Erik's doctors gave him a big thumbs up, and told him to "go have fun" riding. Erik intends on doing just that, with races at Big Game, Des Moines, and North Carolina in the next few weeks.

9/23/08: Erik came back from a 14 week layoff, by racing the Jr. Trailbike class at OIR. A field of 21 bikes made the comeback very interesting. Erik placed 6th overall, and gained some long awaited seat time.

8/4/08: Erik would like to thank Jay North Autos of Springfield, Ohio for their generous sponsorship of an ATC aluminum race trailer. Erik is excited with the outcome of the deal, as it allows the team to expand their operations around the country. The team will carry the Jay North Autos logo around the country as they expand their goals and horizons. The team urges you to check out the sponsor page and visit Jay North Autos for your next car, truck, or trailer.

7/23/08: Erik received some great news from his surgeon. After putting in only one screw, and taking out the five pins in his foot, everything looks good, and his foot passed the first stress test. Erik needs only to be in a cast for 4 weeks, then he will begin physical therapy. The screw will be removed in 12 weeks, when it is assumed that Erik will be able to get back to riding. Erik may be able to ride during physical therapy, but no jumps or aggressive riding. The fact that he is healing so quickly is a blessing considering the initial injury and prognostication. Erik would like to thank everyone who sent well wishes either by phone, cards, or on web sites, and he thanks his sponsors for their continued support while he is sidelined. Even though Erik is determined to make it to the Mini O's, it remains a long shot.

6/28/08: Erik went to Georgia to take part in a week long moto-x camp. Sadly, a freak injury has sidelined Erik for the next several months. Erik was taking part in a drill to practice rollers when he lost control of his bike, and severely injured his right foot. He has several pins, and will have screws added when the swelling goes down. The long term prognostication looks good, but it may be a long while before any riding can resume. Erik thanks everyone for their support and  well wishes, and will see everyone at the races (even though it will be tough).

6/14/08: Erik ventured North to Holeshot this past weekend, and put in a solid performance even if the results were a little disappointing. In the 65cc class, Erik took 2nd in the first moto, took the holeshot in the second moto and was leading for 2 laps before a fall put him back to 3rd. After getting back on the bike, Erik charged through the field on his K100, Rock River Motorsports sponsored Polini. What made matters more difficult, and exciting to watch was the field included a number of super-mini 85cc bikes. Erik was making a pass for 2nd when he went down again. Unable to get the bike turned around in time, he finished 5th for a 3rd place overall.
In the 85cc Junior-Mini class, Erik took 5th the first moto, and 4th the second for a 4th place out of nine bikes. Erik was also the second bike into the holeshot aboard his Rock River Motorsports YZ 85.

5/19/08: Erik made it out of the LL area qualifier in the 65cc 10-11 stock class.

4/26/08 Linesville, Pa
4/26/08: Erik made his first visit of the year to Pymatuning Holeshot, and came away with a second place overall. After experiencing front brake problems in the first moto which saw him finish 4th, Erik put on a wheel to wheel show in the second moto to come up short by a bike length. The K100 sponsored Rock River Polini ran exceptionally well, and looked smooth and sharp.

4/22/08: Erik just completed another Alex Manga training school with great success, and will be attending the Davi Millsaps training facility for a week long training session on his Rock River Yamaha 85.

4/6/08: Erik raced his first ever AMA District 12  85cc race, and placed a respectable 3rd in the 9-11 class.

4/4/08: Erik has spent the last few months practicing both indoors, and outdoors in Tennessee and North Carolina. Erik will continue to place more emphasis on practice, and less on racing in the hope he can fine tune his skills and be ready for the bigger events this year. Erik has been active in the sponsorship market also, picking up several new and key sponsors.

2/5/08: Erik took part in his first ever Toyota Arenacross event at the Youngstown Chevrolet Center. Racing in front of family and friends, Erik took 4th place in the afternoon qualifying race, which saw him on the front gate for the main event. The main event proved tough in terms of track difficulty and strength of competition, but Erik had a great deal of fun and gained valuable experience. An 11th place finish was the end result. On Sunday, he took part in his first ever 10-11 class, and finished 5th in the qualifier which meant starting on the back row for the main. Despite a great start, Erik could only muster 10th, as tough competition, and riders hugging the inside turns made passing difficult.

1/1/08: I took out my Rock River Powesports YZ 85 this past weekend for the first time. I really had a lot of fun. The bikes are awesome. It felt weird getting back on my 65 for a few laps, but I felt faster than before. I'm going to work on my 85s for a while, then get back on the 65s for the Arenacross races. I would like to thank Rock River Powersports for the YZ 85s.

2007 News

11/20-24/07: Erik took part in the 2007 Winter MX olympics in Gainesville Florida, and gained valuable experience. He finished 117th out of 140 riders in the 65cc stock class, and 101st out of 121 in the 65cc modified class. In addition, he picked up a sponsorship deal to ride for Rock River Powersports of Wisconsin, and will ride a Yamaha YZ 85 in the 85cc 7-11 class in 2008. Erik will ride the Polini XP 65 in the 65cc 7-11 classes also.

10/26/07: A thrilling final weekend of racing saw Erik miss out on his first 65cc championship by a handful of points. However, he did have the crowd on their feet, and the race announcer almost falling out of the tower. Behind by just 3 points from the previous week, Erik needed a solid performance to take back the points lead and win the AMA 65cc championship. Racing with bikes from the 10-11 class in the 7-9 class, and Trailbikes in the 7-11 class, both proved to be spoilers. In the first race, Erik had a bad holeshot, and found himself behind two 10-11 class riders. For four laps Erik did everything he could to pass and make ground on the leaders of the race. On the final turn, with the crowd on their feet and the announcer so excited he almost fell out of the tower, Erik made his first ever block pass to pick up a position. Going into the final turn he was a half bike length back. After the turn and over the final step up jump, Erik was a half bike length ahead and received an standing ovation from the crowd. In the 7-11 race, Erik found himself behind two 150cc trail bikes, and lost even more points to the leader.
Going into Sunday's races, Erik was 9 points out of first place, but a fall on a step up jump ruined any chance of a second championship in as many years. In the end, Erik finished the season in second position in AMA District 12, 65cc 7-11 class, and second in the 65cc 7-9 class.
Erik will now head to the Mini O's and the Bookoo Arenacross series. Erik also signed on as a team memeber for River Motorsports-Polini, and will ride Polini motorcycles in 2008. River Motorsports and Polini-USA will give Erik the support he needs to compete in the 2008 national events.

9/24/07: Erik was scored as 3rd in the 65cc 7-11 class after an error by the flagman, resulted in the 3rd place rider leaving the track one lap early. Erik graciously had the race rescored and settled for fourth place after realising the mistake that had been made. Despite th echange in positions, Erik managed to climb back into first place in the District 12 points race, and now leads by eighteen points.

9/15/07: Erik took home two 1st place wins this weekend in the 65cc 7-11 class, including the Gold Cup trophy at Beans Bike Park. Erik also placed 2nd and 3rd in the 65cc 7-9 class. This gives Erik 7 wins on the season. The wins keep Erik in 2nd place in the points chase, and have narrowed the gap between first.

8/24/07: Erik took a break from leading the AMA District 12  7-11 points to try his hand in the Junior Trailbike class. Riding a stock Kawasaki 110, Erik finished 2nd to a powerful Honda 100 machine. Despite knowing he would give up his points lead, Erik said the fun he had was worth it.

7/20/07: Erik took home 1st place Friday night at Beans Park, to keep him in first place in the 65cc 7-11 points chase.

7/8/07: A 3rd place finish at broken Spokes in the 65cc 7-11 class was enough to put Erik in first place in the points standings.

6/24/07: Erik won his first ever AMA first place trophy Sunday, at Crow Canyon. Riding his new Cobra CX 65, Erik took 2nd and 1st to place 1st overall. This now makes 57 career victories, which matches his race number.

5/28/07: Erik went to Broken Spokes for the first time on Memorial Day, and raced impressively to finish second and fourth in both 65cc classes. He left with just one double left to conquer the next time he races at the track. More impressive was the speed in which he flew up the hill part of the track, and the new Cobra 65 was impressive all day long.
The blue gill/bass tournament ended without a clear winner, as the official score card was eaten by a Golden Retriever. The timing of the lost score card came at about the same time several parents lodged complaints of illegal lures, bait, and riders not having stock fishing poles. A rematch is already being discussed by the tournament promoters, and several independent judges will be brought in to check for illegal fishing equipment. The individuals with the dynamite, electrical stun equipment, and trawling nets will have to move to the Modified classes. :)

5/19/07: Erik took part in his first ever Loretta Lynn qualifying race at Crow Canyon, Ohio this past weekend. The results were not unexpected, considering the level of competition. Erik competed with riders from Arizona, Maryland, Michigan, and while having fun, learned some valuable lessons. The first moto saw a stalled bike on the gate, and a 23rd place was all that could be mustered. In the second moto, Erik put in an improved performance to finish 14th. In the regular AMA district 12 race, Erik finished 4th overall for his first AMA points of the season. The team will now go into intensive practice, to prepare for the Ponca Nationals later in summer.

5/7/07: Erik qualified for the Ponca City Grand Nationals in the 65cc and 85cc classes. Erik will compete in the 65cc stock and modified classes, and not enter the 85cc class despite qualifying for this category. Erik would like to thank K100 Fuel Treatment, and FCR suspension for their sponsorship, and support in the qualifying events.

4/15/07: Sunday's race at TV land was moved indoors due to weather, and took place at the NEMX center in Andover. Erik started the day well in practice and continued to get faster each time out on the track. With 13 riders present in the 65 class, including Loretta Lynn qualifiers, it was going to be a tough day. However, Erik took up the challenge and finished 4th in the first moto, beating some notable riders. In the second moto, Erik was moving through the field on the first lap, when a nasty crash ended his day. It was quite clear, that a top 4 finish was on the cards, but 9th place was the finishing position. Erik was particularly happy that Eric from K100 was on hand the entire weekend to watch him ride.

3/25/07: Erik began the outdoor season battling not only a strong field, but a malfunctioning electrical system. This put him last in the first 65 moto, and the same in the 85 moto. The problem was overcome by the second motos, and Erik took 5th after a bad start, and even more pleasing was 4th in the 85 moto. Riding against the bigger 85cc bikes, Erik was very competitive on his 65cc machine, and looked smooth and confident despite the muddy conditions.

4/8/-7 Erik made his first visit in a year to Lightning Raceway in Stillwater, Ohio, which was the first qualifier for the Ponca City Nationals. The visit proved to be a slow starting, grinding it out type of day, as cold temperatures and a lack of motivation aded to the struggle. Riding his 65cc K100 bike in the 65 and 85 classes, Erik faced a good field of riders in both classes. It wasn't until the final moto of the day, when the real Bulldog showed up to show everyone how well he can ride. Erik stayed on the tails of the 85s, and was landing the uphill jump two feet further than the first place bikes mark. A Playstation 2 stunt at the checkers and a big grin, were enough to tell everyone that all was well. The good news was that Erik came out ahead in qualifying for the Ponca City Nationals.

Erik took part in his first ever NEMX arenacross race on March 1 and came away with a 2nd place finish. Leading for 2 laps in the second moto, Erik took an outside rail, and was passed for the lead on the inside by the eventual winner. Despite giving up the chance of a win, Erik and the team were excited with his agressive riding, and hope that translates into success at the first outdoor race at Crow Canyon.

Erik won his first ever 65cc race at the Summit Arenacross on January 14. It only took 6 races to achieve the win after moving up from the 50cc class, but the team knows it will be a long struggle in 2007 against such talented and experienced competition.

We are pleased to announce a sponsorship partnership with Boyesen. Boyesen
Reeds will give us the edge we need and provide the support necessary
trackside. We look forward to an exciting 2007 with all our new and current
sponsors.

Erik moved up to the 65 cc class, and Junior Trail class with much success. A second and third in the 65 cc class and two 3rd places in the Junior Trail class has been greeted with a buzz of excitement and expectation around the race track. Feeling more at home on the Honda four stroke, Erik took 2 holeshots in four motos, and was beaten overall only by larger displacement bikes. The 65 cc KTM is a work in progress, but so far progress is good and on the team's pace chart.

The team also took on another sponsor in the form of O'Neal motocross apparel.
